The adidas Continental Is Revived In All Its OG 80s Glory

The adidas Continental 80 is brought back to life from the 3 stripes archive with all its original European tennis court style.

The adidas Continental trainer is one of the latest silhouettes to be revived from the 3 stripes archive. The 80s era really saw some of the top adidas releases of all time and will always be remembered as one of the most influential decades for 3 stripes fanatics and followers. Although some 3 stripes silhouettes are more remembered than others, what’s always magical about any archive re-release is the heritage of the shoe in question. Take the adidas Continental for example, which first came onto the trainer world back in the late 80s as an updated tennis court trainer. Following on from its older 3 stripes sibling, the Stan Smith, the Continental aimed to add all the classic court style but this time packing more comfort and flexibility than ever before. The trainer also looked to the mid 80s popularity of the likes of the Reebok Workout style for a more all round fitness appeal coming with added foam cushioning for better comfort. Since its original ‘Made in France’ exclusive release, the Continental has been firmly locked away in the adidas archives up until now.

The Continental is re-released with all white tumbled leather uppers alongside the iconic two tone stripes of the original late 80s design. Other features include French terry cotton to the inner collar as well as an added EVA insert to the midsole for added comfort. The trainer is offered up in a clean all white colourway and finished off with the all important trefoil branding to the tongue and sides for the ultimate retro sportswear look.
