THE BUSINESS - 80s Casual Classics has been dedicated to the likes of Fila Vintage White Line, Sergio Tacchini and Diadora to name a few, without a doubt most of the e-bay enthusiasm and style brand selections came from that now cult British film for casuals “The Business” written and directed by Nick Love (pictured below). This was a film that truly served up a hefty reminder of the 80s casual heyday to many thousands and brought back the infatuation towards branded sportswear from this much loved era.

Whilst we have been dedicated to presenting 80scasualclassics with key vintage casual items from the likes of Fila Vintage white line, Sergio Tacchini , Diadora , Gabicci , Adidas Originals etc etc. Without any doubt early ebay enthusiasm and style brand selections came via the cult British Film THE BUSINESS. A Film that truly served up a hefty reminder of the 80s casual heyday to many thousands and brought back the passion towards branded sportswear from this much loved era...     loads of film items for sale-click here

Released on DVD back in January 2006 word had quickly spread, not just about a great new British film, but the now long awaited arrival of classic brands like Fila and Sergio Tacchini. If ever these brands were to emulate their success and elitist position from back in the 80s there was no better way than to glamorise them in a new, fresh and sexy British film packed full of memorable classics such as the Fila Settanta Mk1 BJ Matchday available to buy now and Sergio Tacchini Dallas tracksuit top, also available in Sky Royal, Red and White.

Now four years after the films release word has continually spread and the
80s casuals are back in force with all the enthusiasm and passion centred on the clothes, which still grows day by day. Most fashion revivals kick start based around the youth of today but this has been a total exception to the rule where 35-40 year olds are driving a mass resurgence in key 80s brands that we all loved “Back in the day”. While many people are buying up old favourites, many are affording to invest in styles that were once a week if not a months wage! Despite having 4 stores in Gerald Ratner fashion I really don’t think the current crop of Fashion brands are inspiring a nation and this key era has so much to offer in terms of memories and a whole range that many of us simply only dreamed of.

As with many 80s casual items there are some, more than others, which achieve iconic status as an item that many back in the 80s would have loved to have owned. The Fila 5 stripe (pic 1), the Vilas Track (pic 2) and Fila Terrinda (pic 3, more on that later).

After the ever popular Terrinda, in terms of a most requested re-release came the 2 stripe dark navy velour tracksuit top. This has become known for being the top worn by Sammy, and then worn by Frankie at the end of “The Business” when he defeats Sammy, then claims his price (not Sammy’s girl by the way). 80s casual classics won 3 vintage colours on ebay and took to Fila to re-introduce and the results were the first Fila exclusive to land on our Site not available anywhere else in the world.

We currently have stock of the
Fila 2 stripe velour in Navy, Red & Ocean Blue as pictured below with a white 2 stripe available shortly that was worn by Sammy in the business.

The Fila Settanta Mk2 polo shirt in terry towelling, a classic borg great fit retro polo, Frankie tries it on in the legendary casual sports shop scene and then gets dressed up in shorts and polo for a night at Charlies Bar followed by a night crashed on the beach

This is possibly the most requested polo shirt on www.80scasualclassics.co.uk with shorts a great look for 80s fancy dress and summer holidays

due to arrive with shorts Feb 2010

The Fila Geeza polo shirt is also another seen on Frankie whilst he plays tennis against his rival. He does manage to upset Sammy and then become the main player a popular sell out in 2009 back in 2010 with the shorts also worn by Bex in The Firm and shopkeeper Primett not
just 80s fancy dress outfit

Sergio Tacchini Masters V neck Jumper one of the most requested releases from the sports store scene

Seen here in this picture is the Smuggler polo shirt, which had been teamed up with the Sergio Dallas in Sky Blue with red collar and Borg Shorts. This was the look first seen worn on Frankie on the mountain top when Charlie and he go to talk business with their contact and Sammy interrupts the proceedings.

This is available within the coming months, along with the all important Fila Borg shorts arriving beginning of summer. The Sergio Dallas in sky is now at 80s Casual Classics for purchase along with Royal, White and Navy versions.

Finally we reach the ultimate in tracksuit tops, the Fila Terrinda or Settanta Borg Mk3 in Navy. This top featured heavily throughout the film on Tamer Hassan’s character Charlie. Many of these have fetched from £700 up to £1000 in key sizes on e-bay! To many of us, who back in the day may have only been shelf stacking; this would have cost us around 20 week’s wages, pretty unbelievable in those times.

The terrinda was a very wearable creation that was held back from the mass market by its premium price tag. It’s made from a fine velour type fabric with a bit of stretch and durability and was seen on the likes of Wham back in their heyday. After many years searching Fila have tracked the fabric and a limited release should arrive late Sept 2009- ebay colours have been white, navy, French blue and Red. With this in the pipeline it’s no wonder we have been taking regular calls from eager casuals willing to buy some of our own originals. The Terrinda Borg Mk3 Polo and shorts are now available on this site

It’s a great time to be a casual again and to out shine anyone at an 80s fancy dress party but as a website lucky enough to exist credit where credit is due much is down to the ever popular film The Business, Nick Love and the  The Firm to carve up a hefty reminder. STAY CASUAL!
