80s Casual Classics - has grown year on year to become the largest website store of its kind. Over the past years we have aided the development and re-launch of classics from Sergio Tacchini, Fila, Ellesse and Diadora being instrumental in new styles getting a release. We stock an extensive range of Adidas originals and like all our brands try our best to carry good levels of stocks on known classics. A great deal of success has been our own passion for the period and involvement in the revival with much support to key era films mentioned elsewhere on the site.
OUR STORY- Starting out as Planet Clothing in Bedford we went on line via an ebay shop early 2006 dedicated to Vintage styles from Sergio Tacchini & Fila Vintage White-Line. Whilst owners Neil and Kevin had branded fashion stores in two towns, it was soon clear Neil could make a return to his 80s casual past an era of great teenage memories and for many an era that was left unfinished. In the 80s personally I had not seen the look being from the football casuals and was possible more of a street casual or sports casual as we lived miles from any real football casual culture. I grew up on a love of sport and buying elitist clothes. Neil jumped on board with key 80s memorable brands re-inventing their heritage past with a return to their 80s logos , designs , fabrics and colours- the retro return was underway kick started by a Nick Love Danny Dyer spot on film with much cool clobber memories. A fortunate phone number in The Business DVD kick started much interest in our old school terrace classics and with the phone ringing some "back in the day" chats, our confidence soon grew from our initial customers. As well as new interest in this era from a younger crowd many like minded 40+ types were chasing the stuff they owned or dreamed off Fila bjs, Sergio Dallas Tracks, Pants, Roll Necks, Lois cords, Diadora borg elites and Farahs etc etc. It was soon clear many of our customers were original Football casuals with stories of terrace dressing and oneupmanship. The Planet Shop / Web Staff in The Firm shoot Full Fila Vintage Settanta Terrindas and Sergio Split Star brought back by Nick loves latest movie The Firm released Feb 2010 on DVD.
As someone with fond memories off this amazing era we embraced serving many like minded old skool terrace football casuals and vintage sports lovers, keen to return to the heyday of buying premium luxury sportswear. Ebay was originally the place to be for any retro vintage 80s sports gear with premium prices all round for borg and mcenroe classics (see our john mcenroe sergio tacchini tribute -click here) were being relaunched in classic styles. While only very few styles were getting a re-launch in the UK the films success saw stocks run short and requests flooded in. After much sales success we were eventually allowed to raid Italys archive collection- imagine that (childhood dream), after all deadstock stocks ran out we tracked down stock piles in USA and imported some very rare classics. Eventually we were big enough to get brands to make designs purely for our own specialist / respected site.
In 2006-07 styles like the Classic Sergio Tacchini Navy Dallas in 2006/07 was elusive with a white badge (being made in error with a red badge) our USA stockpile find soon fetched £150 on many occasions. We launched our own website late 2007 although still to this day feature more limited product on ebay. With a broad range of remake styles on our site of Sergio Tacchini between just £45-65 the ebay price mayhem died down.
As each day passes we have teamed up with brands and customers and full of confidence set about deals to exclusively sell many items from the likes of Fila Vintage , Sergio Tacchini , Ellesse including many key Borg, Mcenroe, Becker and Vilas styles adored by casuals. We are aiming to have an ongoing stock programme on all key retro 80s best sellers
Other noteable revival success was the Diadora Borg Elite gold trainers on its return saw many customers buying 3 pairs and then prices soaring to £200 for kangaroo skin it was clear they demanded a higher price and on selling out across the uk they soon did.. The Fila Vintage white line Borg matchday / settanta Mk1 track jacket in green, navy and red and the Sergio Tacchini Dallas Masters and new young line polos have played a huge part in the success of our business and key items to bring back great 80s casual day memories. The Fila Terrinda MK3 was the most requested item of all and launched at £100 saw an immense take up with limited initial stocks selling out fast. Prior to release this collectable style saw ebay sales of £1000 for original 80s Terrindas with revival interest kick started largely from Tamer hassan /Charlie in Nick Loves The Business film. Adidas has made a huge comeback on retro 80s trainer styles Adidas Trimm trabs, Forest Hills, Gazelles, SL76, SL72, adidas Munchen, Samba, Bamba, Rom, Beckenbauers and many more adidas originals styles on constant update releases.
With a desire to help our customers we have become the biggest single stockist in the uk for many of our brands. UNLIKE MANY ON LINE RETAILLERS WE ARE ON THE END OF THE PHONE AND PROVIDE SIZE ADVICE from known chest size to product pit to pit measures to make easy comparison to styles already in your own wardrobe.
Following much attention to styles and products from the Nick Love film The Firm where 80s Casual Classics supplied and aided much of the wardrobe we launched into many brave renowned styles with tank tops, roll necks, ski gillets, puffas and some of the best unreleased 80s casual old skool track tops. Our customer have played a huge part in many come back items and our continued success so we thank you all greatly. We have secured a deal with Diadora to see good ongoing stocks of the Diadora Borg Gold elites and have increased our offer to see sustained stocks on Adidas Originals , much business with T'shirt kings 80s Casuals. We recently developed our own take on the classic 80s jumbo cord with some modern day fit credentials for a wearable look and again Farah slacks in classic Greys, Navy, Black and Steel Blue in some fits that suit today with classic 80s detailing.
